let's bring this tribe back to life. tribe.com is losing lots of people and lots of tribes after the new rollout. i've been listening to the mp3 downloads and rekindled my enthusiasm for alan. i left all the tribes i wasn't that interested in. this one is in my top 10. i grew up with allan in my backyard and his books in my bedroom. i love him.

any other "selves" out there interested in creating a more active tribe?

Yes, I'm in. Did you say you grew up with him in your backyard? I guess you mean the bay area?

i/we both lived in sausalito and in the foothills of mt. tamalpias in the 60's and early 70's.

i met him at once at a party on his houseboat. really funny when under the influence of a little white wine.

i was an acorn then. growing oak tree now. his words saved me then. they resonate deeply with me now.

      he is my guru.

I also grew up under the influence of Alan Watts. My parents used to go to his Sausalito house boat parties, and had friends who were his neighbors when he lived out on the way to Muir Beach. I found his books quite enlightening as a teenager living in Mill Valley and roaming Mt. Tamalpais, cloud-hidden, whereabouts unknown....

been wanting to post the poem from CHWU. i'll find it.

          small world,eh?

Hi. I'm new, having stumbled on this tribe while googling "Alan Watts". I've been listening to a number of his lectures and found what he talked about strikes a chord. I thought that I had simply stumbled on a lost thread from the 60's until I discovered that AW's still impacting people (like me). I'm interested enough to join and say "hi".
